iPad 3 to feature 8MP camera and 2048x1536 resolution

The Chinese language Apple Daily has published what it claims to be images of the next generation iPad 3. In the report Apple Daily claims that the new iPad 3 with a rumored release/announce date of 7th March, will feature a 9.7-inch Retina Display and an 8-megapixel camera.

Elsewhere MacRumors has confirmed that the iPad 3 will have an ultra-high resolution Retina Display of 2048x1536 pixel. MacRumors claims that it has obtained one of the iPad 3 displays and when examined under a microscope it found the display to be an ultra-high resolution Retina display.

Another interesting rumor doing the rounds is that the new iPad 3 will feature a quad-core Apple 6 system-on-a-chip and possibly 4G LTE networking. This if true will be a major improvement in terms of performance when compared to the current dual-core A5 chip on the iPad 2.

Best Buy to sell iPad in all U.S. stores from Sept. 26

Best Buy has announced that it will sell the iPad in all its retail stores from September 26th. Until now it sold the iPad in 673 retail stores with Apple Shop locations. Now, it will be sold in all 1,093 stores in the U.S stores. All the stores will carry both the Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi + 3G models.

"Technology is becoming more and more personal, and our customers say they really value visiting a Best Buy store to touch and try the iPad for themselves," said Wendy Fritz, senior vice president of computing at Best Buy. "We’re delighted that we’ll soon make that opportunity available to everyone who’d like to come see us, and experience this device in any Best Buy store nationwide."

Apple is also rumored to make the iPad available for sale at Target in the next few weeks and there are reports on the internet that device could see a launch in stores as early as October 3.

Orange announces iPad 3G Data plan Details

Orange has announced the data plan details for 3 european countries of UK, Switzerland and France.

UK iPad Data plan

Orange UK will offer tailored 3G data plans for iPad Wi-Fi + 3G, from 10th May, and will launch a pre-registration site for SIMs at Orange.co.uk/iPad. Pay-as-you-consume, daily, weekly and monthly data plans will be available, providing the freedom to choose a type of plan depending on usage.

Orange has developed a simple “pay for what you use” price plan for iPad at a rate of 5p per MB, daily at a rate of £2 for 200MB, weekly at a rate of £7.50 for 1GB, or choose from two monthly plans, both of which include unlimited browsing at Wi-Fi hotspots: £15 for 3GB/month or £25 for 10GB/month.

France iPad Data Plan

In France, Orange launches two mobile internet for iPad plans, from €10, without a term contract. iPad users can choose between a €10 monthly plan offering 200MB of cellular data and unlimited Wi-Fi hotspot browsing, or a €39 monthly plan including 2GB of data and unlimited Wi-Fi.

Customers reaching the plan ceiling will be able to buy a 300 Mb recharge for €10 (Valid 31 days). Current Orange France mobile customers will receive a 15% discount on their iPad data charges. Also customers will be able to order their iPad directly form the Orange store, with Apple handling delivery.

Switzerland iPad Data Plan

In Switzerland, Orange will be charging 5 CHF per day for unlimited data use, with a charge of 10 CHF for the micro SIM card and the first three days of use free.

In total, four "Data Global Add-On" packages are available and these plans will be serviced in more than 90 countries. Apple today officially announced that it has sold 1 million iPads in 28 days which is less than half of the 74 days it took to sell 1 million iPhones. Apple reached this milestone on Friday 30th April.

“One million iPads in 28 days—that’s less than half of the 74 days it took to achieve this milestone with iPhone,” said Steve Jobs, Apple’s CEO. “Demand continues to exceed supply and we’re working hard to get this magical product into the hands of even more customers.”

Also there are now more than 5000 apps specifically designed for the iPad in the Appstore. In addition to unit purchases, iPad users have already downloaded over 12 million apps from the App Store and over 1.5 million ebooks from the iBookstore. Read the full Apple announcement.

California Hospital to use 100 iPads

Kaweah Health Care in California has decided to buy 100 iPads and distribute them among its health care professionals so that they can see the X-ray images and EKG results on the iPad.

Citrix virtual desktop and application delivery software will be used to access various patient monitoring programs. Using the Citrix Receiver, the hospital will be able to have its workers access desktop applications without writing proprietary software for the iPad.

The hospital has decided to work directly with Apple to procure the devices because of the huge demand and tight supply of the iPad.

Apple’s iPad Wi-Fi + 3G models to arrive April 30

How to Restart and Reset a frozen iPad

Just like laptops and desktop computers, iPad is tablet computer that sometimes freezes or hangs when you are running an application or playing a game or when you are doing something else. To come out of this you may need to try restarting the iPad or force quitting the application, or even resetting the iPad.

Restart iPad

Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the red slider appears. Slide your finger across the slider to turn off iPad. To turn iPad back on, press and hold the Sleep/Wake until the Apple logo appears.

Force quit an application

Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button on top of iPad for a few seconds until a red slider appears, then press and hold the Home button until the application quits.

If you can’t turn off iPad or if the problem continues, you may need to reset iPad. This should be done only if turning iPad OFF and ON doesn’t resolve the problem.

Reset iPad

Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

iPad Still Doesn’t Respond After Reset

Reset iPad settings. From the Home screen choose Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings. All your preferences are reset, but your data and media aren’t deleted.
If that doesn’t work, erase all content on iPad.
If that doesn’t work, then you will have to restore the iPad software.

iPad international launch delayed

In a statement released yesterday, Apple said that it is delaying the international launch of the iPad until end of May. Apple attributes the delay to the stronger than expected demand for the iPad. Apple has until now sold around 500,000 iPads during its first week.

Apple's Statement:

Although we have delivered more than 500,000 iPads during its first week, demand is far higher than we predicted and will likely continue to exceed our supply over the next several weeks as more people see and touch an iPad™. We have also taken a large number of pre-orders for iPad 3G models for delivery by the end of April.

Faced with this surprisingly strong US demand, we have made the difficult decision to postpone the international launch of iPad by one month, until the end of May. We will announce international pricing and begin taking online pre-orders on Monday, May 10. We know that many international customers waiting to buy an iPad will be disappointed by this news, but we hope they will be pleased to learn the reason—the iPad is a runaway success in the US thus far.

iPad Wi-Fi: How to manage iPad WiFi networks and resolve WiFi problems

Here are the step-by-step instructions on how to connect and manage the Apple iPad Wi-Fi networks. You will also find instructions on how to troubleshoot or fix common iPad WiFi problems and issues.

Join the Wi-Fi Network

First you need to make sure that the WiFi is enabled and that you are connected to a specific WiFi network. To do this on your iPad go to Settings > Wi-Fi. If Wi-Fi is off, turn it on by tapping the ON/OFF button. When you set the button to ON, wait a moment as iPad detects all available WiFi networks in range.

Once the iPad detects all the WiFi networks in the range, they are all displayed under under Settings > Wi-Fi > Choose a Network. Just tap the Wi-Fi network that you want your iPad to connect to. If the Wi-Fi network is not displayed on iPad as an available option, it may be a "closed" or "private" network.

Once you join a Wi-Fi network, iPad automatically connects to it the next time whenever the network is in range. If more than one previous network is in range, iPad joins the one most recently used.

Set iPad to ask if you want to join a new WiFi network

When your iPad is not in the range of the previous connected WiFi network, then you can set the iPad to prompt you to join a new WiFi network that i sin the range. On your iPad choose Wi-Fi, then turn the option "Ask to Join Networks" ON or OFF. When you try to access the Internet (using Safari or Mail) and you aren’t in range of a Wi-Fi network you previously used, iPad looks for another network. iPad displays a list of all the available Wi-Fi networks that you can choose from. Networks that require a password show a lock icon.

If "Ask to Join Networks" is off, you must manually join a network to connect to the Internet when a previously used network or a cellular data network isn’t available.

Forget a WiFi network, so iPad doesn’t join it automatically

To prevent the iPad from connecting to a previously connected WiFi Network you can do so by choosing "Forget this Network" option under Wi-Fi and then tapping the ">" icon next to a network you’ve joined before.

Connect to Secured/Private/Password protected WiFi network

Some WiFi networks are secured/private meaning, they are password protected and you will need to have a password to access that network. Such WiFi networks are displayed with a padlock icon next to the WiFi network name.

If you receive an error while joining a password-protected Wi-Fi network:

Type slowly to verify you are entering the correct password.
If you cannot tap Join, the password is too short for that Wi-Fi network.
If you don't know the password, check with the Wi-Fi network administrator.

Check iPad WiFi Connection

You can check the iPad Wi-Fi signal strength in the status bar or Wi-Fi menu. The more bars the stronger the signal and faster is the internet access.

If your iPad shows only have a single bar it means that the signal is weak. Also if you still cannot locate your Wi-Fi network in spite of being in the range do the following. Consider moving closer to the Wi-Fi access point or router. Also try to avoid potential sources of interference that can affect a Wi-Fi signal, such as concrete walls and microwave ovens. Next, check your connection by using Safari to open a web page.

When using some public Wi-Fi networks, Safari may display a web page that allows you to sign in to use the service. Check this web page for additional information on signing into or subscribing to the Wi-Fi network service at that location.

Check iPad Wi-Fi network

Sometimes you cannot access the internet even thought it seems like you are connected and the there is strong WiFi signal. In this case, you will need to verify the WiFi network that you are connected to.

Check the cable connection to your Wi-Fi access point or router.
Ensure you are connecting to the correct Wi-Fi network, and not another nearby Wi-Fi network.
If you can't identify your Wi-Fi network due to other networks with similar names nearby, contact the ISP or manufacturer for assistance in naming your Wi-Fi network.

Reset iPad Wi-Fi network settings

To reset your network settings, tap Settings > General, then tap Reset > Reset Network Settings. When the device restarts, try to locate and join the Wi-Fi network again.

Note that resetting the iPad WiFi Settings will clear your current network settings, including saved networks, Wi-Fi passwords, and VPN settings.

Sometimes you might run into some problems with the WiFi networks. Here are some common issues.

Unable to locate a nearby Wi-Fi network

If you know there is a nearby Wi-Fi network, but you are unable to locate it on the Settings > Wi-Fi screen:

If you are using a personal Wi-Fi network, verify the Wi-Fi router is connected to power and turned on.

- Tap Settings > Wi-Fi.
- Locate the Wi-Fi network you are currently using and select it.
You can configure network-specific settings, including IP address, DNS, and Search Domain settings.
Use "Forget this Network" to reset settings for this particular Wi-Fi network, including the password. This is also useful if you identify a network issue and want to prevent the device from automatically using this network in the future.
Use "Renew Lease" to acquire new IP address, DNS, and Search Domain information from the Wi-Fi network.
Note: If the Wi-Fi network uses MAC address filtering, you will need to add the MAC address to the access list for the Wi-Fi router. The MAC address for your device is listed as the Wi-Fi Address in Settings > General > About.
Reset network settings by selecting Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings.
Note: This will reset all network settings, including passwords, VPN, and APN settings.
Restart the device by holding the power button until "slide to power off" appears. Slide to power off your device. When it is off, press the power button to turn it back on.
Cellular Data Connected Device only: If you continue to experience issues, consider turning off Wi-Fi and using the cellular data connection instead of Wi-Fi.

First Apple iPad Reviews Roundup

Some folks at major publications and websites have already got their hands on the Apple iPad tablet and have spent time reviewing its features for a few days now. With just a day or so remaining for the iPad’s launch they have all published their Apple iPad Reviews. Most of the reviews are positive in favor of the Apple iPad and there are obviously some who have also noted negatives about it.

One of the more prominent gadget reviewers is Walter S. Mossberg from The Wall Strret Journal. He has aptly titled his iPad Review as “Apple iPad Review: Laptop Killer? Pretty Close”. He says:

After spending hours and hours with it, I believe this beautiful new touch-screen device from Apple has the potential to change portable computing profoundly, and to challenge the primacy of the laptop. It could even help, eventually, to propel the finger-driven, multitouch user interface ahead of the mouse-driven interface that has prevailed for decades.

The iPad is much more than an e-book or digital periodical reader, though it does those tasks brilliantly, better in my view than the Amazon Kindle.

New York Times's David Pogue has this to say in his iPad Review titled “Looking at the iPad From Two Angles”:

The iPad is not a laptop. It’s not nearly as good for creating stuff. On the other hand, it’s infinitely more convenient for consuming it — books, music, video, photos, Web, e-mail and so on. For most people, manipulating these digital materials directly by touching them is a completely new experience — and a deeply satisfying one.

The bottom line is that the iPad has been designed and built by a bunch of perfectionists. If you like the concept, you’ll love the machine.

PC Magazine's Tim Gideon calls the Apple iPad a winner in his review :

Aside from Apple enthusiasts, many of us wondered who would drop hundreds of dollars for this not-quite-computer. But having used the iPad for some time, I can tell you that the device just makes sense. When you combine basic-but-essential work tools with iWork, an improved browser, e-mail, iPod, and photo applications, a well-executed e-Book platform with iBooks, and throw in thousands of downloadable apps and games, and package it all in a gorgeous, slim slate with a beautiful 9.7-inch touch screen, you have yourself a winner.

USA Today's Edward Baig was also very positive in his iPad Review. He titled his review as “Verdict is in on Apple iPad: It's a winner”

The first iPad is a winner. It stacks up as a formidable electronic-reader rival for Amazon's Kindle. It gives portable game machines from Nintendo and Sony a run for their money. At the very least, the iPad will likely drum up mass-market interest in tablet computing in ways that longtime tablet visionary and Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates could only dream of.

Dwight Silverman from Houston Chronicle in his iPad Review “Dr. Mac: Apple's iPad is better than expected” says:

It turns out the iPad isn't as much a laptop replacement as I thought (though it could easily be used as one). Instead, it's an entirely new category of mobile device. For example, now when I want to surf the Web from the couch or back deck, the iPad is the device I choose. Starbucks? Same thing. Think of the iPad as a new arrow in your technology quiver, an arrow that will often be the best tool for a given task.

BoingBoing's Xeni Jardin says this in his iPad Review “Apple's iPad is a touch of genius”:

It strikes you when you first touch an iPad. The form just feels good, not too lightweight or heavy, nor too thin or thick. It's sensual. It's tactile.

The display is large enough to make the experience of apps and games on smaller screens stale. Typography is crisp, images gem-like, and the speed brisk thanks to Apple's A4 chip and solid state storage. The major update to iTunes is the support for iPad syncing. So if you plug in your new iPad tablet to your computer on Saturday, iTunes will be able to sync your computer's music, movies, books, and other media with your tablet device.

The new version of iTunes is also able to import free ePub books, which will now appear on the left side of the iTines application within a new category called 'Books' under the iTunes 'Library' just below the 'Podcasts' category. Users are able to manually add cover art to ePub titles as they can with music albums, and the info window for books offers a VoiceOver pane where users can set the VoiceOver language on a per-title basis.

Apple's iPad OS Upgrade Pricing Policies

Macrumors has reported that Apple has posted the iPad end-user software licensing agreement on their servers. According to the agreement, all iPad users will receive free iPad software updates from Apple, up to and including the first major release, and then have to pay for upgrades afterwards.

The agreement states the the following:

Apple will provide you any iPad OS software updates that it may release from time to time, up to and including the next major iPad OS software release following the version of iPad OS software that originally shipped from Apple on your iPad, for free. For example, if your iPad originally shipped with iPad 3.x software, Apple would provide you with any iPad OS software updates it might release up to and including the iPad 4.x software release. Such updates and releases may not necessarily include all of the new software features that Apple releases for newer iPad models.

As you might already know the iPod Touch owners have been paying for each major OS software update, while iPhone owners have received their updates for free. The new iPad owners starting April 3rd will fall somewhere in between where they will be able to receive the next major OS update 4.x for free, but may have to pay for the next major upgrade 5.x.

iPad to be sold at all Apple Stores; Stores to open at 9 AM

Apple today officially announced that the iPad tablet will be sold in all of its 221 Apple retail stores starting Saturday April 3rd. The iPad will also be available in most of the Best Buy on the same day.

Every customer who buys an iPad at the store will be offered a free Personal Setup service by Apple. This will help them customize their new iPad by setting up their email, loading their favorite apps from the App Store, and more. Customers can learn more about the iPad by participating in special iPad workshops that Apple will be hosting at all its retail stores.

iPad Pricing & Availability

Just a recap. iPad will be sold in the US through the Apple Store® (www.apple.com), Apple’s retail stores, most Best Buy stores, select Apple Authorized Resellers and campus bookstores.

iPad will be available in Wi-Fi models on April 3 in the US for $499 for 16GB, $599 for 32GB, and $699 for 64GB. The Wi-Fi + 3G models will be available in late April for the retail price of $629 for 16GB, $729 for 32GB and $829 for 64GB.

NOTE: Apple has updated its website to indicate that all new iPad pre-orders will ship on April 12, and has also removed the option of reserving an iPad for in-store pickup on April 3, suggesting the company has sold through its initial allotment of iPad units.

Best Buy prepping for iPad Launch

According to some reports, Best Buy has started preparing for the launch of the Apple iPad tablet on April 3rd providing its retail store employees with details of events leading up to the launch.

Amazon and Barnes & Noble developing iPad Apps

According to a report from New York Times, both Barnes & Noble and Amazon are working on iPad-formatted versions of their iPhone book reading applications. Amazon has today posted a new page detailing its Kindle Apps for Tablet computers including iPad.

Ian Freed, vice president for Kindle at Amazon says “We have actually developed a tablet-based interface that redesigns the core screen and the reading experience. Our team had some fun with it.”

The Kindle Apps for iPad will feature Amazon's Whispersync technology that automatically synchronizes your last page read, bookmarks, notes and highlights with Kindle and Kindle-compatible devices PC, Mac, iPhone, and BlackBerry. The app provides two new ways for people to view their entire e-book collection. You will be able to customize background color and font size to ease eye strain. Also you can adjust screen brightness from within the app to make reading easier.

Barnes and Noble is also customizing its iPhone app for the iPad. This new App will let users flip through books quickly with finger swipes and customize fonts in multiple colors and sizes.

eReaders Compared: iPad vs. Kindle vs. Nook

With the introduction of iPad, Apple has entered the e-reader device market which is dominated by Amazon Kindle and Barnes and Noble Nook. I feel that the iPad is a winner when compared to other e-readers simply because, the iPad tablet is not just an e-reader.

Of course when you see the iPad by itself you can say that the iPad comes with its limitations like there’s no camera, no SD card slot, no Adobe Flash technology, etc. But the fact that it is much more than just an e-reader with features like being able to do web browsing, send emails, play multimedia (Music, Photos and Videos), and being able to play games and use Apps from the Apple App Store makes it a clear winner. The other devices Kindle and Nook are just for a single purpose that is as an e-reader. The iPad also boasts a color display with multi-touch, unlike any other reader, which is a big step forward.

Price Comparison:

The immediate price difference is obvious: at $499, the basic iPad is about twice as expensive as a 6-inch Kindle or Barnes and Nobles Nook. The Kindle DX is only be $10 less expensive, but Apple's unit still lacks 3G at that level. The price is more than fair because the iPad does much more than either of the readers. But again, if all you wanted was an e-book reader, then iPad is a costly choice.

E-Book format:

The iBooks App of the iPad supports the open ePub (EPUB) format, unlike Amazon’s Kindle which uses a proprietary format. This is great, because iPad owners will be able to download public domain books from Google and check out books from their local library, as well as buy books from Apple’s own book store. VIVmag plans Interactive Magazine for Apple iPad

Online all-digital lifestyle magazine provider VIVmag is planning to develop and introduce an interactive version of its magazine content for the Apple iPad tablet. The video above is a preview of the kind of interactive content it wishes to deliver on the iPad.

Jeanniey Mullen, the chief marketing officer of VIVmag, said that the magazine would cost $36 for a yearly subscription (6 editions), or $6 an issue. He says “It is an expensive process. It takes the same amount of time to create as a print edition, but we’re creating a living product that is fully dynamic.”

These kinds of videos are filmed using an advanced camera called Red. Red can shoot digital video at resolutions as high as motion picture film. Apple starts accepting iPad Apps

Apple has started accepting applications built for the iPad. Apple communicated this to the registered developers of the iPhone/iPad developer program via an email. This seems a bit delayed, given that the iPad is set to be available from April 3rd. Apple would have liked to have a good set of apps available for the iPad launch.

iPad Battery replacement service details

Apple has posted a support page that contains details of the iPad Battery replacement service. If your iPad battery stops charging or in Apple’s words “battery’s diminished ability to hold an electrical charge”, Apple will replace the iPad for a service fee of $99 plus $6.95 for shipping. So the total cost will be $105.95 per unit. Apple is promising that the replacement iPad will be available within approximately one week from the time you send your iPad.

Note that you cannot avail this service if the iPad is damaged because of an accident, liquid contact, disassembly, unauthorized service or unauthorized modifications, or if the product is not operating correctly as a result of a component failure.

Apple says that the data on your damaged iPad will not be made available on your replacement iPad. It is up to the owner to make sure that the data is backed up by syncing the iPad with iTunes to back up contacts, calendars, email account settings, bookmarks, apps, etc.

Apple accepting iPad pre-orders; limits 2 per person

As promised Apple today has started accepting pre-orders for the iPad. You can preorder at http://store.apple.com/us/browse/home/shop_ipad/family/ipad. For Customers who Pre-order the iPad with Wi-Fi from the Apple Online Store today, the iPad will be delivered for free to door on April 3. If Saturday delivery is not available in the customers area, then the iPad will be delivered on April 5.

Apple has set a limit of 2 iPads per person for online pre-orders. Note that only the Wi-fi models are available on April 3rd. Wi-Fi + 3G models are expected to be available in late April.

Those wishing to reserve a Wi-Fi-only iPad for pick up at an Apple retail store have a limit of one per customer. In addition, the AppleCare Protection Plan for iPad is also available that extends the warranty and complimentary telephone support coverage to two years for $99.

Alongside pre-orders of the iPad, Apple has begun accepting pre-orders for its range of iPad accessories. e-Readers prefer iPad over Kindle

According to a latest survey conducted by Changewave, people looking to purchase an e-reader in the next 90 days would prefer to buy an iPad over the Amazon Kindle. In terms of numbers, 40% of the respondents said they would purchase an iPad, compared to 28% for the Amazon Kindle, 6% for the Barnes & Noble Nook, and only 1% who said they planned to purchase a Sony Reader.

Among consumers who already own an eBook Reader, the Amazon Kindle (68%) towers over its closest rival, the Sony Reader (10%). But to gauge the potential impact of the iPad on this market, CahngeWave asked eBook Reader owners whether they would have purchased their current e-Reader if the Apple iPad had also been available. 27% said they would have purchased an iPad instead of their current e-Reader had it been available at the time, compared to 45% who would have still purchased their current e-Reader, and 30% of respondents who didn’t know. With the launch of the Apple iPad (coming on April 3rd), Apple has also lined up a set of iPad Accessories of its own. The iPad accessories include the iPad case, iPad Keyboard dock, iPad Dock, iPad Camera Connection kit and last but not the least the iPad 10W USB Power adapter.

Apple iPad Case

The iPad form factor could be a little bit of a dilemma when you have to hold it for longer periods of time. The Apple iPad Case is probably designed with this in mind because it has a triangular kickstand that can prop up the iPad tablet at comfortable angles. This case will be sold for $39.

iPad Keyboard Dock

The Keyboard Dock combines a dock for charging your iPad with a full-size keyboard. The dock has a rear 30-pin connector, which lets you connect to an electrical outlet using the USB Power Adapter. You'll be able to use it to sync to your computer, and offers an audio jack to connect your iPad to a proper stereo. Also you can use accessories like the Camera Connection Kit. This Keyboard dock will be available for $69.

iPad Dock

If you are satisfied with just the onscreen keyword or if you just want a spare dock for office use, you can use this plain old charging dock. The Apple iPad Dock lets you dock and charge iPad. The rear 30-pin connector lets you connect the iPad Dock to an electrical outlet using the USB Power Adapter, sync to your computer, and use accessories like the Camera Connection Kit. The Camera Connection Kit gives you two ways to import photos and videos from a digital camera. The Camera Connector lets you import your photos and videos to iPad using the camera’s USB cable. Or you can use the SD Card Reader to import photos and videos directly from the camera’s SD card.

iPad 10W USB Power Adapter

The 10W USB Power Adapter for lets you charge your iPad directly through an electrical outlet. And the 6-foot-long power cable allows you to charge it from an even greater distance.

iPad Safari

iPad Pricing and Availability

The Apple iPad will be available from April 3rd with the option of pre-ordering from Apple Online Store from March 12th. There will be three versions available, a 16GB ($499), a 32GB iPad ($599) and a 64GB iPad ($699). These will be the WiFi only models.

Apple will also be selling another version which will come with WiFi and 3G connectivity, the 16GB 3G iPad will cost $629, $729 for the $32GB version and $829 for the 64GB version.

The Apple iPad 3G will be available through AT&T in the US. Unlike in the case of iPhone, you will be able to cancel the contract at any time. There will be two data plans available $15 a month gets you 250MB of data plus acess to AT&T’s WiFi hotspots, and $30 a month will get you unlimited data plus free access to WiFi hotspots.

The Apple iPad with WiFi and 3G will be sold SIM free, so basically you can use it with any mobile provider.
